Finally, I get a whole album I like

Posted : 10 months, 1 week ago on 6 March 2008 10:37 (A review of As I Am)

I've always liked Alicia Keys but never really liked more than a few songs on her albums, though they tended to get a lot of play. Finally, with her third album, she's produced something I can listen from beginning to end. It's packed with excellent songs and she's in top form both as a singer and a songwriter.

Stress buster

Posted : 10 months, 1 week ago on 2 March 2008 07:10 (A review of Super Paper Mario)

The game is less action, much more puzzle solving. It's immersive yet relaxing. The dialogue is 80% funny, 20% tedious, which is a pretty good trade to make.

Relationships and the city

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 1 March 2008 01:47 (A review of Sex and the City)

Despite it's name, this series was really about relationships, not sex. The four lead characters are very likable and only evolve into more likable people as the series progresses. Their friendship is the central relationship of this series. The two part finale is the best finale on TV, ever.

Hits a little too close to reality

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 1 March 2008 01:41 (A review of Yes, Prime Minister)

Yes Minister and it's subsequent avatar as Yes Prime Minister is my favourite comedy series of all time. The motivations of all the characters are so utterly believable and so are the characters themselves. The writers added a huge dose of satire and irony to their writing as well. Brilliant acting by the whole cast can only help.

Hospitals don't get creepier than this

Twisted dark humour along with mystery, suspense, the supernatural and some really shocking moments. Awesome mini-series.

The best BBC miniseries ever?

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 1 March 2008 01:29 (A review of Pride and Prejudice)

A gorgeous adaptation of Jane Austen's classic, Pride & Prejudice sets the standard for period dramas. Excellent acting, direction, costumes and set pieces - they left nothing to chance. Colin Firth is brilliant as Darcy in his pre-stardom days. The rest of the cast is brilliant as well.

Layla

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 1 March 2008 12:18 (A review of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs)

Layla remains among the absolute best songs Eric Clapton ever produced in his lifetime. This album would be worth listening to just for that song. Fortunately, there's plenty of other good music on here as well. The other song I love here is 'Anyday'.

Bundling Wii Sports was a brilliant idea

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 29 February 2008 08:40 (A review of Wii Sports)

Nintendo made the right move by bundling this with the Wii. It gets you up and running and really shows how much fun this console can be.

Art and Erotica plus more

Posted : 10 months, 2 weeks ago on 29 February 2008 08:37 (A review of Sports Illustrated: In the Paint)

The painted swimsuits always look great but that's not the only reason to buy this book. All the behind the scene stuff is very interesting, especially the artist's thoughts. I didn't realise till I read the book that it was just one artist, Joanne Gair, who did all the body painting.
